A technique called “soil nailing” involves inserting tendons to stabilise the slope on either naturally occurring or excavated slopes. The nails, which deal with the overall slope stability, are linked to a facing system, which offers surface stability.

Solutions for the local surface stability can be found in our extensive array of rockfall mitigation and erosion prevention technologies, which include:
  • Flexible “hard” systems (double twisted wire mesh, HEA panels, Steel Grid).
  • At the slope’s top, “soft” facing is employed.

The facing hides the exposed face of the reinforced soil and may have a stabilising purpose to keep the dirt in place between the soil nails, prevent erosion, and encourage the revegetation of the slope.

The system:
  • Provides stability as new vegetation takes root,
  • Enhances the protection against erosion and soil shear strength
  • Connects the deep slope with stability with the unstable surface layers.
