The tunnel structure’s solidity is delivered during the primary lining phase, which also immediately supports the earth that has been excavated. Shotcrete with steel fibre reinforcement is frequently used to create this temporary supporting liner. When necessary, this stage also involves the installation of reinforcing components, which are steel arched sections with contours similar to those of the tunnel.

A novel approach to tunnelling, our patented unique Tunnel Support System offers incredibly effective first stage support. Compared to conventional steel-arch supports, this method uses special tubular steel-arch ribs that are filled with pumped concrete in-situ. As a result, fewer arches are required, which lowers costs and boosts tunnel production.
